Nagi Vergara
Sous Chef
Nagi spent his childhood in the Philippines, where his mother operated a popular canteen that evolved into a successful restaurant. His culinary journey began early, influenced by his mother's passion for cooking, and took a significant turn when he moved to Southern California at age 10. Nagi honed his skills and entrepreneurial spirit by hosting dinner parties in high school and completing a stage at the Mina Group's RN74 at age 18.
His career developed as he navigated through rigorous kitchens, moving from pastry to savory roles at notable establishments, including International Smoke, Palette, Al's Place, and Californios. At Sorrel, Nagi was promoted to sous chef in early 2024, bringing a fresh perspective and a desire to evolve restaurant culture for a new generation of chefs.
